Huntington Beach is the largest the beach side city in Orange County. Huntington Beach is known locally as both, HB and “Surf City, USA.” It has the longest the stretch of uninterrupted sandy beach in Orange County at 8.5 miles. Known as “Surf City, USA,” Huntington Beach has consistent surf waves throughout the year. These waves are created by the edge-diffraction of the open ocean swells around Catalina Island. In the winter time, these swells are created by the North Pacific and in the summer the waves are generated from the combination of storms and hurricanes in the Southern Hemisphere. In addition to surfing there are many other activities to participate in such as horseback riding, beach volleyball, and jogging, biking and walking trails.
